Known
issues for Duplicate File Finder when using Java 1.4.x
Unfortunately
with the release of Java 1.4 a number of asthetic issues
surfaced with Duplicate File Finder. These problems seemed to not
be present when using Duplicate File Finder with earlier versions
of Java.
Some of these problems have been fixed for Duplicate File Finder 1.1.1.
In particular, these are:
- In the Main Window, the File Size and File Name checkbox tags are
truncated.
- In the Progress Window, the End Time is only partly visible and is
unreadable.
- In the Progress Window, the number of files processed has the bottom
part of the number cut off.
Other problems appear to be bugs in
Java 1.4.x. Sun has not made a response to my bug report, so
issues mentioned here will not be worked on. Also, I will not be
working on these issues partly because I
am working on a new version of Duplicate File Finder.
The known remaining issues affecting Duplicate File Finder with Java 1.4.x are:
- In the Duplicates Found Window, the file information is on one line.
In previous versions of Java, each piece of information was on
its own line. This appears to be a bug of Java in that new line
characters in strings are ignored in JTextFields.
If Sun replies to my bug report, I will take further steps. I
hope the issues mentioned here will not affect your ability to use
Duplicate File Finder.
