Deficiencies and Bugs
Known Deficiencies
Unfortunately Duplicate File Finder does at this time have a
number of known deficiencies. Due to the redevlopment of Duplicate
File Finder in C++, it is unlikely these deficiencies will be
addressed in the near future, if at all.
Unable to handle file names
with special characters. If a file name has some odd characters,
in particular control characters, ulmats, and similar such
characters, it is unable to handle them. This is in fact a
deficiency in the JavaUNIX library and is currently outside my
control.
The database isn't really a
database, it is just a file with some basic file information
about files that you have included.
At the completion of the
search, the Progress Window becomes inactive and can't be used
further.
Currently there is no check for
if two or more chosen directories in the search path might be
included within each other. This can result in a sub directories
being unnecessarily researched during the search process, however
it will not result in erreoneous hits.
Known Bugs
There are currently no
known bugs in Duplicate File Finder.
