Part 5:
The Results Window

When a search is complete and duplicate files were found according to the criteria set, the Results Window will open where the files can be processed. The window contains two files lists, and for each file list a corresponding information box, a count of the number of files that were found to have duplicates elsewhere in the search path, a count of the total number duplicated of files, and the delete and close buttons. Additionally, the Results Window contains some automated actions.

The "Files Duplicated" List
This is a list of the files that were found to have duplicates elsewhere in the chosen Search Path. The files in this list are not identical to each other, and no special method is used in listing these files. Each file has it's full path listed.

Listed files may be recorded in the database if a database was used in this search. If so, that file will not be available if it is on a filing system that is not mounted at the time.

Selecting a file in this list will update the "Duplicates Of The Selected File" list below and will show in that list all the files that are the same as the selected file. The selection in the Files Duplicated list will also show some information about the file in the "File Information" box.

The "Duplicates Of The Selected File" List
This is a list of files that are the same as each other and as the file selected in the Files Duplicated list above. All files that are the same as each other are listed here including the selected file in the Files Duplicated list. Each file has it's full path listed.

Listed files may be recorded in the database if a database was used in this search. If so, that file will not be available if it is on a filing system that is not mounted at the time.

Selecting a file in this list will update the File Information box to the right with some information about the selected file. The selected file becomes the file that is marked for deletion.

The "File Information" Boxes
These two boxes shop a small amount of information about the selected files. They show the file name not including the full path, the size in bytes, the calculated checksum, and if the file is recorded in a used database, a comment that the file is in the database.

The "Delete" Button
The delete button is for deleting the selected files in the Duplicates Of The Selected File list.

When the Delete button is clicked, a confirmation window is displayed asking if you really want to delete the files. Select "Yes" to delete the files, or "No" to not delete them. The files will then be deleted, or if there are any problems a message will be displayed with information about what happened.

The "Close" Button
The Close button will close the window, losing all information about the duplicate files found. A confirmation for closing this window is required. When the window is closed, you are returned to the Main Window.

Automatic Actions Of The Results Window
If, after deleting duplicate files, there is only one file left in the Duplicates Of The Selected File list, that file will be removed from the Files Duplicated list as it has become the last file left from the identical files and Duplicate File Finder will not delete this last file.

If all duplicate files have been deleted and there would be no more files left, the Results Window will automatically close and return you to the Main Window.
