Part 4:
The Progress Window
While a search is active, a progress window will be open and
show the current state of the search. It shows a list of files
that have been examined, the start time of the search, the total
number of files examined so far, and "the damned cancel
button" for if you really want to stop the current search.
The window is resizeable.

The List of Examined Files-
The list of examined files is progressively added to as each new
file is examined. The very last entry in this list is the file
currently being examined. As each new entry is added, the count
of how many files is incremented.
-
-
Note: If the list stops growing but the hard drive still
seems to be active, Duplicate File Finder may be examining a
large file. Look at the last file in the list, and if it is
particularly large it could take up to several minutes to
complete its examination of that file before it moves on.

"The Damned Cancel Button"
-
As with most applications, there has to be a cancel button for
stopping what is happening right now. This button is no
exception, so if you want to stop the search. You will be asked
if you really want to cancel the search. If so, click the yes
button, otherwise click the no button. While waiting for an
answer, Duplicate File Finder will continue its examination of
files. Note that because Duplicate File Finder is "threaded",
the search may continue for a very short time after confirmation
of cancelling the search.

Completion of a Search
-
When all files have been examined, the Progress Window becomes
inactive. It shows the time the search ended, and the damned
cancel button changes to showing that the search is complete.

At this point, if any duplicates were found according to the set
criteria, the Results Window will be opened for processing the
found duplicates. If no duplicates were found, a message will be
shown to this effect.
